POSITION: Assistant Director, Website Development and Social Media

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree and 2 – 3 years+ experience building and maintaining an institutional web site, from graphics development to HTML implementation including experience with social media, viral and word-of-mouth online marketing practices. Comprehensive technical understanding of HTML including forms, tables, and frames. Strong working knowledge in HTML, all aspects of Adobe Creative Suite including Dreamweaver, Java, CGI. Experience with JavaScript (VBScript and PERL a plus). Web server software and hardware administration and maintenance.
Knowledge of desktop equipment and hardware and networking software/hardware protocols. In-depth knowledge of Social Media Tools and Techniques. Able to demonstrate previous ability to build and improve social media programs with top social media sites and tools. Ability to lead, manage, and participate in cross-functional teams. Ability to work independently and on several website projects concurrently. Knowledge of University and Alumni Relations programs, policies, and procedures. Excellent project management and writing skills. Proven ability to manage several tasks concurrently, continually setting priorities on emerging requirements and changing timelines. Knowledge of online public relations strategy. Participates in social media sites (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter) and strong understanding of current and emerging social media channels. PR event management experience helpful. Solid understanding of web metrics. Ability to execute a number of parallel tasks and work with cross-functional teams. Positive, self-starter attitude and desire to exceed at every opportunity. Passion for building and launching new technologies Ability to provide creative direction.
DUTIES: Reporting to the Director of Alumni Relations in Marketing and Communications, manage the Penn Alumni website and related social networking tools to advance strategic goals and priorities. Design, develop, coordinate, and maintain Alumni Relations web pages utilizing online graphic and production tools. Assist with website overview to adapt to new University graphic standards. Ensure website content is accurate, dynamic, easy to access and valuable to user, and consistent look and feel of all pages. Work with Alumni Relations staff to develop marketing plans for online services and create effective plans for promoting services. Drive the creative implementation of new ideas on the Alumni Relations Web site and for the QuakerNet, Penn’s online alumni community. Write and develop manual for best web practices for Alumni Relations pages. Stay abreast and learn new developments in web technologies and social networking trends as they arise. Coordinate efforts and work closely with Development and Alumni Relations Marketing and Communications (DARMAX) and the Office of University Communications to insure uniformity and strategic compatibility of messaging across the web site.
COMPENSATION: Between $30,000-$50,000, depending on experience.
